Swan Point Cemetery Closed, Except for Burials
See the letter below:
Dear Swan Point Cemetery Community,
We, like all of you, are closely monitoring the COVID-19 Pandemic. Swan Point is taking all precautionary
measures to protect the members of our community and staff while still carrying out our essential roles as a
place to bury the dead and provide comfort and inspiration to the living.
Until now, our grounds have remained open to the public between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM each day to
provide a place of remembrance, as well as to find pleasure in the beauty and peacefulness of nature. It has
been wonderful to see so many people appreciating and utilizing the Cemetery in this way.
I am sorry to say that we can no longer remain open to the public. We are facing a public health crisis and
the health and safety of our staff as well as our entire community must take priority. As of April 10th,
Swan Point will be closed, except for essential burial services. Only those who have loved ones buried,
inurned or entombed will be allowed into the cemetery between the hours of 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM,
Monday through Sunday. No more than 5 people maximum in any group.
Our Reception Rooms, Chapels and Administrative Offices will remain closed to the general public until
further notice. Our office staff will be working and can be reached at 401-272-1314 or by email at
services@swanpoint1846.com. Graves can be located through our website www.swanpointcemetery.com
by clicking on the Genealogy tab on the Home Page. The kiosk located in the vestibule of the main office
building is also available to assist you in locating the deceased. Our public restrooms will also be closed
until the spread of the virus is contained.
We intend to continue performing our most essential business activities, providing burial and cremation
services. Our staff will also be available, by appointment, to assist families with the purchase of burial space
if a death has occurred or is imminent. Until further notice, we will not be scheduling pre-need sales
appointments. In accordance with the call for more social distancing, we have also suspended the use of our
chapels for memorial services.
We look forward to welcoming visitors for their daily walks once the situation improves and we can safely
allow everyone back to enjoy the beauty and serenity of Swan Point.
Sincerely,
Anthony W. Hollingshead
President
