Teenage Girl Assaulted, Robbed in Kennedy Plaza

A 15-year-old girl was reportedly robbed and assaulted in Kennedy Plaza on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident is the latest episode of violence in downtown Providence across from City Hall. 

Earlier in October, GoLocal reported on a fight involving over 60 students that resulted in a dozen police officers responding and multiple arrests.

Latest Violence in City Center

Shortly after 3 PM on Wednesday, police on detail in Kennedy Plaza say that they were approached by a juvenile female, who said she had been robbed in front of the skating center. 

According to the victim, two females approached her - and one punched her in the face several times, knocking her to the ground. 

The victim told police the two female suspects robbed her of her phone, money, and other belongings and then fled the scene. 

Detectives are currently investigating. 

 

Another GoLocal review of police records found that there was an assault in Kennedy Plaza nearly every other day over a 23-day period.
