Tomas Avila - 21 Who Made a Difference in 2021

If there was ever a perfect marriage it was the appointment of Tomas Avila to the position of associate director, R.I. Office of Diversity, Equity and Opportunity in the State of Rhode Island.

Since his appointment, Avila has been a seemingly one-man machine elevating the issues of equity in government.

Avila has a sweeping array of professional experiences in politics, consulting, and business.

Over the course of his career, he has worked for GE and sold real estate in Providence. Avila has served as both a political and business advisor.

Those collective experiences give him great insight into all aspects of the community and how business and government work and how the relationship can be improved.

His experience aside, the energy he has brought to the position is a model for how state employees should promote their offices and the services they bring to their constituencies.

He is everywhere from LinkedIn to Facebook, and we would not be surprised if Avila created a dance for TikTok to promote his office/
