Two Armed Robberies in Providence on Saturday

Providence Police are investigating reports of two armed robberies in the city on Saturday. 

In both instances, victims reported being approached by multiple assailants and threatened at gunpoint.

Bucklin Street

Police were called to Bucklin Street shortly after 3 PM on Saturday for a report of a robbery. 

The victim - a male in his 30s - told police he had just been robbed at gunpoint on Princeton Avenue by approximately six individuals - five males and one female.

One of the suspects was in possession of a firearm, the victim told police. 

According to the victim, the suspects stole numerous items from him, including jewelry and his cell phone. The victim told police he then fled the scene to call for help.

Police say that due to his condition, the victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. 

 

Noyes Avenue

Police say that at approximately 10:15 PM on Saturday, they responded to a report of an armed robbery on Noyes Avenue off of Cranston Street. 

When police arrived, they said they met with three male victims, who said they had been sitting in the backyard when they were approached by three men who entered the yard dressed in all black.

The victims told police two of the men had guns and one was in possession of a knife; one of the suspects reportedly demanded that the victims hand over all of their belongings. 

According to police, the victims said the suspects took thousands of dollars worth of jewelry off of them as well as their cell phones, and then fled the scene. Detectives are currently investigating both incidents.
