Union Leader Arthur Coia Dies

Arthur A. Coia, of Providence, Rhode Island, and Delray Beach, Florida, former General President of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 82.

 

A lifelong advocate for workers’ rights and a prominent national labor leader, Mr. Coia dedicated his life to advancing the dignity, safety, and well-being of working men and women across North America. His leadership, passion, and vision left an enduring legacy in the labor movement.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Paolino Coia; his children, Christen Corrente and Arthur E. Coia II; his son-in-law, Darren F. Corrente; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Goodrich Coia; and four cherished grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, many friends, and all who knew him.

 

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family.
