URI Providence to Hold Lecture for Social Justice and the City

This Wednesday, The URI Feinstein Providence Campus will host the 7th annual Marcia Marker Feld Lecture for Social Justice and the City.

The event will begin with a light dinner, followed by a lecture by invited speaker, Thomas Deller AICP, the Director of Development Services for the City of Hartford. Deller was appointed to that position in 2012, after previously serving a similar role for the City of Providence for nine years.

There will also be a panel comprised of leaders from the cities of Providence and Hartford, including: Ruben Florez-Martzan, Director of Planning and Urban Development, Providence; Frank Shea, Executive Director, Olneyville Housing Corporation; Andrea Pereira, Executive Director, LISC, Hartford; and Khara Dodds, Planning Division Director, Hartford. The panel’s moderator, Barbara Fields, serves as the Regional Administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Development.

The event will be held in the Paff Auditorium, on the first floor of the URI Feinstein Providence campus, beginning with the light dinner at 5:30 PM, and the speech and panel following at 7:00 PM. The program will also be simulcast on URI Live!
