VIDEO: More Than a Half-Dozen Cars Damaged By Fire in Cranston Walmart Parking Lot

More than half a dozen cars caught fire in the Walmart parking lot in Cranston on Sunday. 

a video shared to Facebook by “Dred Culture Vibes” showed the aftermath of the damage.

The Walmart Supercenter is located at 1776 Plainfield Pike. 

Cranston police provided the following statement:

"On 7/19/20 at 1243 hours, officers responded to 1176 Plainfield Pike in the parking lot of Walmart after receiving reports of a car fire. Six vehicles became engulfed in the fire and Appear to be a total loss, while a seventh vehicle sustained significant smoke and heat damage.

Members of the Cranston Fire Prevention and State Fire Marshal’s Office responded and are investigating the cause of the fire, which at time does not appear to be suspicious."

Fire During Heat Advisory

A heat advisory is currently in effect in portions of Rhode Island and New England through Monday night.

Heat index values of up to 104 degrees are possible.
