GoLocalProv.com has obtained bystander video of the altercation between members of a wedding party — and the Newport Police — over the weekend.
As GoLocal was first to report on Sunday:
"What was supposed to be a day of joy turned into a physical altercation, an officer reportedly assaulted, and multiple arrests, according to Newport Police.
A Newport police officer was repeatedly punched in the face and suffered a broken nose, following an interaction with a wedding party in the city overnight on Saturday.
The incident took place at Bowen’s Wharf outside the Newport Landing shortly after midnight Sunday morning."
