VIDEO: Cranston Politician Bucci Tells East Greenwich Policeman “You’re a Dick” During Traffic Stop

As GoLocal reported early Thursday morning, Cranston resident and Democratic politician Maria Bucci has been arrested on suspicion of DUI. 

GoLocalProv has obtained documents showing that Bucci was arrested by East Greenwich Police, who list the offense date as Thursday, December 18.

“Maria Bucci did operate a vehicle in this state while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs in violation of [statute] 31-27-2,” wrote East Greenwich police. 

Now, through an Access to Public Records Act request, GoLocal has secured a copy of the East Green Body Camera footage in which Bucci can be heard verbally abusing the officer during the 12-minute incident.

Bucci tells the officer who has stopped her:

“I think this is abuse.”

Questions how it would be handled “If I was a black human.”

She mentioned that her family was in law enforcement and that she wanted to call the Attorney General.

She repeatedly asked if the officer was “trying to embarrass her.”

And, when being arrested, she told the officer and looked into his body camera and said, “You’re a Dick."

The charge is a misdemeanor; court records show Bucci posted bail ($1,000 personal recognizance).

Bucci is now due to be arraigned on January 5, 2026. 

 

Campaigns and Offices Held

She has close ties to Democratic gubernatorial candidate Helena Foulkes.

Bucci ran for State Rep in District 15 in 2024; she lost in the general election to Republican Chris Paplauskas.

In 2020, Bucci ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of Cranston. 

Previously, Bucci served on the Cranston City Council between 2004 and 2008 and was selected to fill a vacant position on the City Council in 2012.
