VIDEO: Newport-Based Yacht Sinks in Connecticut Harbor -- Amazing Drone Footage

A Newport-based yacht anchored in Hamburg Cove in Lyme, Connecticut sunk this past week — and drone videographer Frank DiNardi got the before and after footage.

“On Saturday morning, January 26th, locals that live on the cove woke up to see the sailboat that had been sitting there starting to submerge — it’s a 53 foot Little Harbor,” said DiNardi, who had put together the footage of before — and after — of the Newport-based "Mazu".

DiNardi said that he was told by locals that the Lyme fire department was called and ran a hose to the boat to pump — but after leaving, the boat was eventually fully submerged.

“I got a message from my friend telling me the boat had sunk — he had seen the original photos I’d posted to Instagram — and that I should return,” said DiNardi. “I packed up my DJI Phantom 4 Pro and went immediately to the scene.”
