VIDEO: Providence Police Have Suspect in Custody in Smith Hill Murder Over Weekend

The Providence Police Department announced on Monday that they have a suspect in the murder of a 41-year-old Providence man over the weekend in custody.

Providence Police Major David Lapatin said at a press conference that the suspect was arrested Monday morning and is being questioned, but that no charges have been filed.

Police are not releasing the name of the suspect that this time. 

About the Crime

Lapatin said the 41-year-old victim, who was from Pakistan originally and worked at a convenience store on Smith Hill, did not show up to work for his scheduled shift. 

Police responded to his apartment at 123 Jewett Street on Smith Hill at 1:30 a.m. Sunday to check on the man, and found him dead inside. 

The police are not releasing the injuries that led to the man’s death or his name at this time.
