VIDEO: RIPTA Bus Rollover Crash on Newport Bridge, 3 Injured
The preliminary investigation indicates that the bus operator lost control of the vehicle at the end of the bridge. The left side of the bus struck the center guardrail before crossing both westbound travel lanes, colliding with a light pole and the guardrail on the right shoulder. The bus then rolled onto its left side according to the Rhode Island State Police.

The bus operator and two passengers were transported to Newport Hospital by Newport Fire and Rescue and Jamestown Fire and Rescue. A third passenger declined medical treatment at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
