"No reason. I mean, it should happen here," Flynn said, to cheers from the crowd as well
The deadly coup in Myanmar has garnered international attention.
“Unrest has gripped Myanmar,” reported the New York Times on Saturday. “Peaceful pro-democracy street demonstrations and work stoppages have given way to paramilitary operations in opposition to the country’s ruthless military, which seized power in a coup d’état on Feb. 1.
”Military leaders’ initially restrained response to the first waves of protests, civil disobedience and general strikes has grown more forceful over time, escalating into a brutal effort to put down the movement that has so far left thousands injured and more than 600 dead," the NYT continued. "Many of those killed have been young protesters, their lives ended with a single gunshot to the head."
Flynn Faces Backlash
“Social media users were furious as footage of Flynn’s remarks emerged,” reported the U.S. Sun following Flynn’s comments in “General Michael Flynn faces calls for court-martial after telling QAnon rally ‘Myanmar-style’ coup should happen in US.”
One said: “Recall General Michael Flynn to active duty immediately for purposes of court-martial. This must be done ASAP.”
Another called on the Defense Secretary to issue a court-martial.
They said: Hello @SecDef. Can we get a court-martial? Call him back to duty and then dishonorably discharge him. My taxpayer dollars shouldn’t be paying for any of his benefits.”

Flynn denied suggesting a Myanmar-style military coup should happen in the US, reported Business Insider on Monday afternoon.
"Let me be VERY CLEAR – There is NO reason whatsoever for any coup in America, and I do not and have not at any time called for any action of that sort," Flynn said in a post on Telegram, a social-media app that has been favored by far-right groups.
Latest for Flynn — and QAnon
As GoLocal was first to report in Rhode Island, Flynn recently purchased a house — in Florida.
In March, GoLocal reported that Flynn’s brother Jack and his wife Leslie claimed they were defamed by a CNN report in February alleging they were members of the conspiracy group QAnon — and sued the news organization for $75 million.
