VIDEO: Rocky Ride From Block Island — Before Ferry Suspends Service Due to Weather

The Block Island Ferry suspended service Wednesday — and again on Thursday —  but not before one Block Island resident captured one of the last boats out. 

“This is fall on Block Island. Calm and beautiful one day, crazy stormy the next,” said Kate Butcher, with Block Island Realty, who captured the video on Wednesday.

“It’s what makes living here so wonderful. And not having to get on that ferry home helps!” she added. 

The video of the ferry rolling across the waves certainly caught people’s attention — it had over 44,000 views by Thursday morning. 

"It hasn't even started raining yet -- that should make it really fun!" said Butcher Thursday morning.

The Block Island Ferry posted the following on Facebook Thursday morning. 

Thursday, October 10th: All High Speed and Traditional ferries have been cancelled for today.
