More than a hundred protesters turned out for a rally at Brown University in Providence on Wednesday — and called the United States and Israel “complicit" in what they allege is genocide in Gaza.

The event, which took place on the main green on Brown’s campus, was organized by the Brown Palestine Solidarity Caucus and Brown Students for Justice in Palestine.

According to the groups, they are calling for the following:

"Brown University must use its power and privilege to publicly condemn the genocide and demand that Senators Reed and Whitehouse support legislation calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to US military aid to Israel.

Palestinian students, faculty, workers, and their co-strugglers face urgent threats to their safety, academic freedom, and futures. President Paxson must immediately and unequivocally condemn the doxxing, Islamophobic and racist harassment, censorship, and political persecution of the Brown University community.

Until Brown heeds the multiple democratic demands to divest the endowment from Israel and the military-industrial complex, the university remains complicit in the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Maria Zuber—a board director at Textron, a weapons manufacturer—must also resign from her position as a Brown University board member."

Latest Anti-Israel College Student Action in Providence 

As GoLocal reported last week

Providence Police have arrested two people for vandalism and antisemitic messages on the Textron Building in Downtown Providence.

The two arrested are students at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

The building was defaced on two consecutive days. Other buildings have also been hit with antisemitic messages and anti-Israel postings.
