Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo and Lt. Governor Dan McKee will hold a joint coronavirus press conference on Wednesday at 1 PM.

It marks a rare occasion the two have addressed the state together during the pandemic.

Raimondo is now President-elect Joe Biden’s nominee for Secretary of Commerce; McKee is expected to take over as Governor if Raimondo is confirmed.

On Wednesday, the RI Department of Health announced 17 additional COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the state total to 1,987.

There were 823 new positive cases on 16,521 tests on Tuesday.
