Seth Magaziner Wins Democratic Primary for General Treasurer

Seth Magaziner is the winner of the 2014 Democratic Primary for Rhode Island General Treasurer.  

"First I congratulate Seth Magaziner on his victory tonight.  He worked hard and is a very talented candidate.  I also thank the many people who voted for me and helped me tonight and in past elections.   I will forever be grateful," said Frank Caprio in a statement to GoLocalProv.com.

Magaziner, who has never held poltiical office was a vice president at Trillium Asset Management.  His candidacy against veteran Rhode Island politician Frank Caprio was propelled by endorsements from state business and labor leaders as well as high profile figures including President Bill Clinton and former RI Congressman Patrick Kennedy.   Clinton's support for Magaziner was notable, given Hillary Clinton's support for Caprio when he ran on the Democratic ticket in the 2010 gubernatorial election.

Caprio previously served one term as General Treasurer from 2007-2010.   He ran on the Democratic ticket in the 2010 gubernatorial election against Republican John Robitaille and current Governor Lincoln Chafee who ran as an Independent.
