Winter Storm Warning: Up to 14 Inches of Snow Possible in RI Starting Wednesday

As much as 14 inches of snow could hit Rhode Island starting on Wednesday, March 21 and extending through Thursday, March 22, according to the latest from the National Weather Service.

The service has issued a winter storm warning for Rhode Island that takes effect at 8 a.m. on Wednesday and extends through 8 a.m. on Thursday. Northern Rhode Island is expected to get hit the hardest.

“A winter storm warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency,” said the service.

The latest snow estimate is an increase of three inches from Monday’s estimate of 11 inches by the service.

  14 inches are expected.

 

* WHERE...Northern Connecticut, Northern Rhode Island, much of

  Massachusetts including Springfield, Worcester, and Boston.

 

* WHEN...From 8 AM Wednesday to 8 AM EDT Thursday.

 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel will be very difficult to

  impossible. Be prepared for significant reductions in

  visibility at times.
