UPDATED: Winter Weather Advisory Issued for RI & MA Starting 10 A.M. Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12 and ending at 10 p.m.

“A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving,” said the National Weather Service.

"Snow Tuesday PM (nasty commute) goes over to sleet then rain Tuesday evening," Tweeted GoLocal meteorologist John Ghiorse.

The service projects as much as four inches of snow and ice with a heavy impact on the afternoon and evening commute.

“Biggest concern are the impacts for the Tuesday afternoon into evening commute. Hazardous travel conditions with slick roadways, especially if left untreated, are expected. Also, reductions in visibility with any snow or sleet, especially as snowfall rates of around an inch an hour are forecast during onset,” writes the service in their advisory.
