Second Incident Reported

Shortly before 4 AM Sunday morning, police were sent to the Graduate Hotel for a report of a naked woman in the lobby.

Police met with the female victim and provided her with a blanket; she told police her boyfriend had been beating her in their hotel room for hours.

According to police, officers went to the room where the couple was staying, and detained the male suspect.

Police reported they observed numerous visible injuries on the victim, who said she was also the victim of sexual assault.

In addition, police said there was blood on bedsheets in the room.

The suspect was taken Central Station for processing.

About the Biltmore, Now the Graduate

Providence's Biltmore Hotel was designed by the architects who created Grand Central Station in New York -- the building has hosted nearly every celebrity coming through Rhode Island as well as world leaders.

The historic Biltmore Hotel name was changed in 2019 by the Chicago-based hotel group that owns the property to Graduate Providence.

And while new Graduate Hotel signage went up out front, the landmark red light "Biltmore" on the roof will remain for the foreseeable future.
