Woonsocket Councilors React to Baldelli-Hunt’s Resignation as Mayor

"I take the mayor at her word and wish her good health in the future. I am certain that the stress of this recent development must be a difficult burden on her,” said Ward.
“I am confident that Mayor Beauchamp will serve the city well for the remainder of the term and look forward to finishing our investigation and continue working with him for the best interests of the City of Woonsocket and all of our residents,” Ward added.

As much as I love the City of Woonsocket and all of you, I must reorder my priorities to suit the current circumstances. For the first time in my decade of service to the City, my health and my family must come first,” she wrote.
However, a business relationship between Baldelli-Hunt and a local developer is being investigated.
One of Baldelli-Hunt’s strongest critics, City Councilman Jim Cournoyer, said, “Anybody who has paid attention to Woonsocket should not be surprised. The woman is a pathological liar - and she finally revealed her true self with her blatant lies.”
“There is so much that could have been done over the past several years with the massive amount of funding that has flowed into the City from the State and Federal Government - but her dishonesty and utter inability to work constructively and collaboratively with others has held the City back in so many ways,” he said.
“Indeed, there is a reason why she was Censured and Removed. She was set to be removed again, as the Council gave her an ultimatum to resign or be removed. Like a coward, right up to the end she could not admit to being wrong, instead hiding behind a ‘health issue’ excuse,” he added.
