“Once that stopped, maybe 30 or 40 kids came over, and people started fighting — one kid grabbed one cop’s hat, who started chasing him, and the kids chanted, 'Die pig,' said Villella. “It was so beyond disgusting.”
Villella said from what she witnessed, young people had been “drinking and smoking weed” at the beach all day.
“I know one of the girls ahead of me, who is 17 and got arrested — she was resisting arrest, and she had been drinking all day,” said Villella. “The kids yelled the cop took her top off, which wasn’t true. It was pure mayhem.”
Villella said that she witnessed State Police — and additional law enforcement authorities — being called to the beach for the disturbance.
“I gave the police dog water, “ said Villella. “I was a little nervous when the first fight happened because people were screaming [someone had a} knife.”
“I’m probably going to a more ‘mom’ beach moving forward,” said Villella, who had been at Narragansett beach with her teenage daughter and friends.
“Maybe East Matunuck or Charlestown. I’m pretty much good with Narragansett.”
