Army Veteran & Former Providence School Teacher, John J. DeSantis Dies at 74
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marion (Ricci) DeSantis.
He had a strong passion for helping inner-city children and touched many lives as a school teacher in the Providence school system for 25 years.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid motorcyclist and tennis player. He was a dog lover with an affinity for bulldogs.
He is survived by his son, Joseph DeSantis and his wife Lisa; a brother, Joseph DeSantis, and a sister, Pia Athas. He is also survived by his former wife and longtime friend Maribeth Barbato. He was the brother of the late Donna Miller.
His funeral and burial will be private.
