Former RIDOH Administrator Paul M. McKiernan of West Warwick Dies at 75

Paul M. McKiernan, 75, of West Warwick, died Sunday, March 19th at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Providence.

 

He was the loving husband of Carolyn M. (Lynch) McKiernan.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Patrick J. and Madeline B. (Fenlon) McKiernan, he was a long-time resident of Edgewood before moving to West Warwick five years ago.

 

Paul was the Assistant Vaccine Administrator for the Rhode Island Department of Health for thirty-two years before retiring in 2011. He also worked the deli counter at Shaws

Market. He was a member of the Ireland 32 Society, the Irish Social Club of West Roxbury and the AFSCME Retiree’s Club.  

 

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Patrick J. McKiernan of Warren, two daughters, Meghan E. McKiernan of Washington D.C. and Kathleen M. McKiernan of San Francisco, CA.

Two brothers, Donald E. McKiernan of Cape Coral, Florida and Gary P. McKiernan of Pawtucket. He was the brother of the late Josephine D. Slater.

 

His funeral will be Thursday at 9 AM from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road Warwick at 10 AM. Calling Hours Wednesday, 4-7 PM.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care 1085 N. Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
