Helen Louise (Northup) O’Neil of North Kingstown Age 79

Helen Louise (Northup) O’Neil, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 21st, 2022 after a long battle with several illnesses. She was the loving mother of five children. She is survived by James O’Neil, II; Teresa Susla and her husband Martin; Robert O’Neil and his wife Lisa; Keven O’Neil and his wife Kaela; and Steven O’Neil and his husband Tom.

Helen was a lifelong resident of North Kingstown. She was an avid walker, beachgoer, bird lover, gardener, and former softball player. She drove a school department minibus as well as the North Kingstown Recreation blue bus.

Helen loved spending time with family and friends. She loved to laugh and to sing and to celebrate every holiday and special occasion. She had the uncanny ability to see the positive in everyone.

One of her greatest joys was becoming a grandmother. She was the proud Nana of 9 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 275 Tower Hill Rd. in North Kingstown at 10 am on Saturday, February 26th. Her burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery following the Mass where Helen will be laid to rest with her husband, James M. O’Neil.
