Hope High School Teacher for 35 Years, Joseph R. Tocco of Warwick, Dies at 89

Joseph R. Tocco, 89, of Warwick, died Friday, November 8th, at the Cedar Crest Nursing Center. He was the husband of Slyvia (Silvestri) Tocco to whom he was married for sixty-six years.

 

Born in Providence, a son of the Late William P. and Antonetta (Petrucci) Tocco, he had lived in Warwick for the past fifty-four years. Mr. Tocco was a teacher at Hope High School in Providence for thirty-five years before his retirement. Mr. Tocco served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a seasoned traveler and a lifetime member of the Smithfield Sportsman Club.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Elizabeth F. Tocco of Cranston, and two sons, Paul J. Tocco (Mary) and Peter D. Tocco (Lynn) both of Warwick. He was the grandfather of Janice Farley, Elaina Foxx, Natalie Tocco, Cecilia Ithurburu, and Joseph Tocco. He was the great-grandfather of River Foxx, Ari Alexander, Garrett Farley, Adlyn Foxx, and Wyatt Farley.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Peter Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick, on Wednesday, November 13th at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to Home & Hospice Care of RI 1085 n. Main Street Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
