Navy Veteran Kurt Eric Malmberg Dies at 67
He was the beloved father of Nicholas and John Malmberg and grandfather to Alexander and Isabella Malmberg.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island Kurt was the precious son of Joan Malmberg and adored brother to Linda Malmberg Rohn, Ken Malmberg and Wayne Malmberg.

Mr. Malmberg served a total of 26 years between active duty and reserves. His tours of duty brought him to many domestic posts and foreign deployments including Beirut, Lebanon, many operations in the Persian Gulf and in Operation Enduring Freedom and Souda Bay Naval Base in Crete, Greece. He was the Command Senior Chief of Inshore Boat Unit 21 of Newport, Rhode Island.
Mr. Malmberg served aboard the USS Mullinix, USS McDonough, USS Valdez and USS Defender. He also served with the Seabees. Kurt was awarded the Naval Enlisted Surface Warfare Badge, Naval Expeditionary Medal, Naval Achievement Medal and many other awards.
Following his service to his country, Kurt worked as an electrician for many years before retiring.
Burial with full military honors will be Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery 301 South County Trail in Exeter, Rhode Island.
