Obituary: Carlo DiPietro, Jr. Passes at 87

Carlo DiPietro, Jr. 87, of North Providence, passed away peacefully in the home he designed and built on Friday, March 1, 2019. He was called home to be reunited with the love of his life, the late Margaret “Peggy” A. (Halley) DiPietro. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Carlo and Mary (Rao) DiPietro, Sr.

Carlo was the owner and operator of the former CD Sheet Metal and Roofing in Providence for over 30 years. He also was employed by General Dynamics and Electric Boat for over 20 years before retiring. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed mushrooming and quahogging.

He was known as being a practical jokester, famously for his rubber mouse. Carlo was an inventor and a handyman who could fix anything. He could be considered the “original recycler”.

He is survived by his loving children, Joseph C. DiPietro of Warwick, Donna M. Pepe and her husband James of North Providence, Sheril A. Carbone and her husband Michael of Johnston, Sandra L. Pescarino and her husband Robert of Saunderstown, and Carla J. Campanelli and her husband Russell of Johnston; eleven cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was also the brother of Carmino DiPietro of North Providence, Marguerite Garrahy of Narragansett, Annette Thibodeau of Brooklyn, CT, Theresa D’Ordine of Narragansett, and the late Salvatore DiPietro, Pasqualina Caliri, and Joseph F. DiPietro, who died in the Korean War.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Thursday at 9:15 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Thomas Church, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

VISITING HOURS will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
