Providence Firefighter Lt. Gregory S. Pavao Dies at 53

Lt. Gregory S. Pavao, PFD, age 53, passed away May 3, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Jennifer (Box) Pavao; to whom he was married for 23 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of Louis and Mary (Diggins) Pavao.

He graduated from La Salle Academy and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from both URI and RI College.

Greg was a Lieutenant in the Providence Fire Department for 17 years, stationed at both Atwells Ave. and Washington St.

He enjoyed playing his guitar, surfing, traveling in the camper, and most of all spending time with his family.

He was the loving father of Gabriella “Ella” and Dylan Pavao and cherished brother of Derek Pavao and his wife Amanda.

His visitation will be held Friday May 9, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St, Providence.

Relatives and friends are invIted to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday May 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 179 Academy Ave, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
