He was the beloved husband of the late Cecile A. (Castillona) Chester.
Born in Providence, John was the son of the late John H. and Adele (Remus) Chester.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with grandchildren.
John is survived by his loving children, Cynthia A. Carney and her husband Kurt, and John H. Chester, Jr. and his wife Melissa, all of Scituate. He was the father of the late Jeffrey J. Chester and father-in-law of Jeffrey’s wife Michelle. John was the cherished grandfather of Tyler, Zachary, Madison, Kailey, Landyn, and Owen.
His funeral will be held from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rocco’s Church, Johnston, at 10:30 a.m.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday Morning from 8:00-9:30 a.m.
Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
