Ret. Prov Police Sergeant & RI Capitol Police Officer, Donald J. Zubiago, Dies

Donald J. Zubiago, 82, passed away on May 24, 2021.

He was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Peden) Zubiago and beloved husband of Arleen (Scorpio) Zubiago. Devoted father of Susan P. Holt and her husband, Jason, and Stephen D. Zubiago, and his wife Antonia. He was the cherished grandfather of Zachary, Matthew, Julia, Emma, Timothy, and Peter and brother of Joan Graham and brother-in-law of Joseph Scorpio, and his wife, Judith.

Donald earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Bryant University. He served as a Providence Police Officer retiring as a Sergeant and as a State of Rhode Island Capitol Police Officer at various courthouses and the State House.

In his retirement, he enjoyed his family, traveling, and was devoted to his grandchildren, who were the love of his life.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Pontarelli-Marino Funeral Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Special Olympics of Rhode Island, 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI.
