Retired Sheriff for City of Providence Randy Edward Hagenberg Dies
Randy E. Hagenberg, a retired Sheriff for the City of Providence, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, December 28, 2024. Born in Warwick, he was the second of three children born to Albert Hagenberg and the late Carol (Leonhardt) Hagenberg. Randy was the devoted father of Eric Hagenberg and Alex Hagenberg.

A graduate of Veterans High School, where he was a member of the band, Randy went on to spend most of his career in security and law enforcement. He first started as a Security Officer for Johnson and Wales University. He went on to become a Sheriff for the City of Providence, retiring after more than 25 years of service. A devoted father, his sons remember going fishing with him and many trips out for ice cream together. He always loved and looked forward to an opportunity to dogsit his son Eric’s late Boston Terrier, Murphy. Randy will be missed by all those who had the privilege to know and love him.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 4-7pm in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. His burial will be private.
