Retired VP & Branch Mgr. - Bank of America, Omer J. Lachapelle, Jr., Dies at 69

Omer Joseph Lachapelle, Jr., 69, of New London Turnpike, Coventry, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 14, 2021. 

He was the husband of Barbara A. (Cone) Lachapelle for 46 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Omer J. and Josephine T. (Giusti) Lachapelle.

Omer was employed as a Vice President and a Branch Manager for Bank of America for over 30 years before retiring in 2016.

He graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1969, and he went to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Johnson & Wales University.  For many years, Omer coached CYO Basketball for St. Kevin’s Parish in Warwick. He also coached in the Warwick National Little League Baseball.

But mostly, Omer loved spending time with his family.

Omer was the beloved father of Brian O. Lachapelle and his with Maria, Mark J. Lachapelle, all of Coventry, and Andrea M. Lachapelle of St. Petersburg, Florida. He was the caring “Papa” to his granddaughters Oliva and Gabriella. He was the brother of Michael F. Lachapelle of West Kingston and Peter R. Lachapelle of Hope. Omer is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was known as “Papa” by all.

His Funeral will be Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 8:45 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at Maple Root, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., (Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Kevin’s Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick.

Interment at Saint Mary Cemetery in West Warwick.

Visiting hours are Tuesday evening from 4 pm to 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
