Thomas “Tommy” Jeffrey Ives, Formerly of Warwick, Dies at 34

Thomas "Tommy" Jeffrey Ives of Jewett City, CT, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024 at the age of 34 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Warwick, RI, he was the son of the late Richard Ives and the late Karen (Matassa) Sanders; and stepson of Richard Sanders. Tommy was the loving father of Thomas Jeffrey Ives Jr., and his mother, Petrina B. Given; step-brother of Eric Sanders, and Trinity “Sanders”Demeyer; and nephew of Michael Matassa and Jim Matass. Tommy was blessed with family and friends who cared deeply for him, most especially his best friend for the past decade, Sabrina I. Cook. He is also survived by Dana L. Currier.

 

Tommy worked as a mechanic all his life and had a love for all cars but his passion was for Volkswagens. Tommy had a nack for fixing things. He had a great love of animals and would pet anything that would let him near (and even if they didn’t). He was most proud of being a dad. Tommy had a way of making you laugh every single time you saw or talked to him. Whether it was a snarky remark, an inappropriate joke, or just something completely off the wall. Tommy was loved dearly and his smile will forever be missed.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 10 to 11 am with a celebration of life service to immediately follow at 11 am in the Tucker-Quinn Funeral Home, 643 Putnam Pike, Smithfield, RI. Tommy's burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, 134 Club Rd., Willimantic, CT.
