U.S. Army Veteran Floyd Dell Woods Dies at 58

Floyd Dell Woods was born on January 29, 1966, at Madison County Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. On May 28, 2024, at the age of 58, Floyd passed away peacefully at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA, surrounded by his loving family.

Floyd is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle Lynn Woods. He was a cherished father to Essence Cardoza of Rhode Island, Andrea Agostini, Christian Woods and Mr. Jinx of Massachusetts. Floyd was preceded in death by his beloved son, Antwon Mays of Tennessee.

He is also survived by his siblings: Willie V. Woods (Mondella), James Ernest Woods (Gloria), Doris Partee, Penny Hawkins (James), Donald Woods, Deloise Coplin (Charles), Perry Woods (Glennette), Norma Ellington (Clifton) and his twin Joe L. Woods. And a huge host of loving nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his siblings, John L. Woods Jr, Ivena Higgs, and Julia Tipton.

Floyd's parents preceded him in death, John L. Woods and Dorothy Woods Hill, instilled in him the values of love, dedication, and perseverance, which he carried throughout his life.

 A proud graduate of Kenton High School, Floyd served his country with honor as a United States Army Veteran. He then built a commendable career with American Airlines, where he worked from 1995 until his passing.

Floyd was a man of many passions. He found immense joy in watching the Lakers, the Bills, and the Yankees, and he had a deep love for music. His knowledge and enthusiasm for history, particularly the 60s and 70s, made conversations with him both enlightening and engaging. His charismatic nature and genuine interest in others made everyone he spoke to feel heard and valued.

Floyd will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His habit of keeping in touch with family and friends through daily, weekly, and monthly phone calls will be sorely missed.

A service to honor and celebrate Floyd's life will be held at Bell Funeral Home, Inc., located at 571 Broad Street, Providence, RI 02907.

Floyd Dell Woods will be remembered for his love, his service, and the unforgettable mark he left on the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
