Veteran Michael Ames of North Kingstown Dies at 78
Michael Ames 78, of North Kingstown, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Providence VA Medical Center after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl "Sherry" (McKaig) Ames for 54 years.
Born in Providence, Mike was the son of the late Blanche Levesque. He was employed as a Sales Representative and Sales Manager for 40 years beginning his career with the former Vennerbeck and Clase Company in Lincoln now a Berkshire Hathaway Company.
As a United States Army Veteran, Mike served in the 515th Light Truck Battalion. He graduated from Johnson & Wales College in 1976. As a member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club, Mike had served as Secretary and Trustee.

Mike was an avid sailor of Narragansett Bay. He was a fan of the New England Patriots and the Providence College Basketball Friars. He was a mentor, teacher and a good kind friend to many.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his brother Thomas Ames of Overland Park, Kansas and cousin Joseph Deignan as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 14th at 10:00 am in St. Bernard Catholic Church 275 Tower Hill Road North Kingstown.
Burial with Military Honors will be in The Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery Exeter.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00-5:00 pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston.
