Viola F. Marburger, of Providence, Dies at 95

Viola F. Marburger, 95, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Capitol Ridge at Providence.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Tomasina (Pecci) Tomaselli. Viola was a very outgoing and independent woman. She was fun-loving, very thoughtful, kind, and generous, and always had lots of friends. She was a world traveler and was never afraid to do or try anything new.

Viola worked at the Providence VA Medical Center for many years, before retiring. Prior to that, she worked for the US Federal government in Tehran, Iran, and in Texas, the US Department of Labor, and the Texas State Department of Welfare.

She is survived by her daughter, Lenora Gurton and her husband Edward; her niece, Donna Payer and her husband Rick and their children; Sonia and Dom as well as many more nieces, nephews great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was the mother of the late Robert and Walter Marburger and sister of the late Louise Iamarone and Rocco, William and Joseph Tomaselli.

The family would like to thank the staff of Capitol Ridge at Providence for the excellent kind and loving care she received there for almost 4 years. And, also, many thanks to all the hospice nurses, social workers, chaplains, and CNAs'at Beacon Hospice Care in East Providence for the wonderful care given to Viola and the love and support to her family.

Viola's funeral and burial will be private.
