World War II Veteran Robert C. Speaker of Barrington Dies at 96

Robert Charles Speaker, 96, of Barrington passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Mona (Bergeson) Speaker. Born in Chicago on New Year's Day, 1926 he was the son of the late Clara (Schreiber) and Arthur H. Speaker, and brother to Arthur Speaker.

He was the devoted father to Kristin Bennett, Robert Speaker (Joyce), Jon Speaker (Cynthia Roberts) and Laura Coutu (Stephen). He was the beloved grandpa to Leah Bennett, Emily King, Elizabeth Sturla, Bobby Speaker, Michael Speaker, Max Coutu, Grace Coutu, Ethan Coutu, Kai Roberts-Speaker and GG Bob to Soren, Saskia, Hadyn, Damian, William, Evangeline, Helena, Reeve, Hunter, Bjorn and Oliver.

Bob honorably served in the US Army in Europe during World War II.

He spent his professional life as a salesman for Kimberly Clark for over 40 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, gardening and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at the Redwood Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery on Saturday, March 5 at 11:00 AM.
