WWII Veteran, Elsie L. Camp, Formerly of RI, Dies at 97

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, the oldest daughter of late Israel and Gertrude Spader Lovitt.
Elsie was a Navy Waves WWII veteran and attended Ohio University on the GI Bill before moving to North Carolina in 1950. Lived mostly in North Carolina except 1963-64 in Mississippi and 1968-1969 in San Diego, California.

She was a supporter of Hadassah and JFS. Elsie loved to travel including trips to Israel, Jordan, Mexico, Greece, England, Spain, and Portugal. Elsie was most comfortable in nature, at her longtime home in rural Chatham County NC. She had a lifelong passion for reading, learning, music, and the arts. She supported equal rights for women and social justice for all.
Devoted mother of William J. Camp (Audra K. Price) of Garner, NC and James E. Camp of Raleigh, NC. Dear sister of Sarah Mandell of West Palm Beach, FL, and the late Frances Starr and Bella Lovitt. Loving grandmother of Liam J. Camp.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Road, Warwick, RI.
