Patriarca tells the committee that his money to invest in business interests came from a box of money - “$80,000 or $90,000” given to him by his mother before she died in 1944 and which he claims was kept in a box in the basement of his mother’s home.

 

Page 21 FBI  Zero in on Helen DeSantis 

DeSantis was Raymond Patriarca’s wife (Helen) traveling partner and the girlfriend to Patriarca’s closest confidant David “Danna” Ricci. DeSantis had traveled with Mrs. Patriarca across the country.

DeSantis lived in Barrington, RI.

 

Page 42 New Haven FBI Office Looking Banking Violations

The New Haven Connecticut FBI office is concern that both Raymond Patriarca and his brother Joseph Patriarca were tied to bank violations relating to the financing of Club Bagdad.

 

Page 75 Trinity Auto Sales tied Patriarca’s “Girl” but not to Jake Kaplan

 

FBI documents unveil that Patriarca’s “girl received at least one car from Trinity Auto Sales" - a company tied to Patriarca. Trinity did between $2 million and $4 million in sales. According to one reference, the FBI could not tie Jake Kaplan to Patriarca.  Jake Kaplan’s dealership was located up Elmwood Avenue up through the 1990s. Kaplan had close ties to former Mayor Buddy Cianci and Mayor Joe Paolino made a controversial deal with Kaplan that kept his Jaguar auto dealership in the city in exchange for tax breaks.  Ultimately, Kaplan move the dealership to Route 2 in Warwick.

 

Page 95 Big Family Wedding at the Biltmore

Raymond Patriarca’s brother Joseph was hosting a 400 person wedding at the Biltmore Hotel — then the Sheraton-Biltmore, June 19, 1961. The reception followed the ceremony which was held at 10:30 am at St Pius Church.

The reception was held at 12 noon in the foyer of the hotel.

Dinner was in the Ballroom at 1:00 pm -- “The dinner is a full course menu and no indication was given if dancing was to follow, or how long the affair would last.”
