FBI Files - The Patriarca Papers - Entry 32 (Did MA Attorney General Ed Brooke Get Paid Off?)

The FBI files of Raymond Patriarca have unveied the relationship between the head of the New England crime family and elected officials, but this weeks files unveils an alleged payoff of campaign funds to Massachusetts Attorney General and, later U.S. Senator, Ed Brooke by members of the Patriarca crime family.

According to the FBI Files, “PATRIARCA had been told by JOSEPH MODICA that SALVATORE RIZZO and TOMMY BROWN (TOMMY LUCHESE of NYC) had given Attorney General BROOKE $7,500 in connection with the Berkshire Downs Race Track investigation by the Attorney General’s office in Massachusetts. BROOKE, according to MODICA was instrumental in curtailing the activities of the Grand Jury in investigating this race track.”
