First Dead Heat of the Summer Right out of the gate, the summer season of the 2010 campaigns started out with a poll showing Democrat Frank Caprio and independent Lincoln Chafee in a dead heat, regardless of who their Republican opponent was. That was the big news of the day, but….

‘Left Out in the Cold’ Congressional candidate John Loughlin launched his “John’s Jobs Tour” today with a visit to two Woonsocket businesses—Look N See Optical Shoppe and the Soucy Insurance Agency. He also took the event as an opportunity to blast the federal economic stimulus program, which he said has “helped Wall Street but left Main Street out in the cold.”

The latest shot comes from state Sen. Lou Raptakis, a Coventry Democrat who is running for Secretary of State:
“State Representatives and State Senators have an obligation to do what is best for the state and this budget does not do that,” Raptakis said. “It is a crass and craven exercise in passing the buck and anyone who votes for this should be ashamed of themselves.”

“Providence’s is a vibrant and diverse city and the vocal and proud LGBT community adds tremendous strength to our city’s neighborhoods,” Taveras said. “Since my first campaign for office - over ten years ago - I have called for full and equal rights for LGBT people - including marriage equality and the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and I will continue to fight against prejudice and discrimination wherever it is found.”
