Chafee Campaign Calls for Judge Caprio to Resign

The Chafee campaign is calling on Judge Frank Caprio, Sr. to step down from the Board of Governors for Higher Education, citing two alleged violations of the Code of Judicial Conduct.

“We believe that Judge Caprio has violated the Code of Judicial Conduct in at least two ways,” said Mike Trainor, deputy campaign manager for Lincoln Chafee. “He has advanced private interests using the prestige of his office. He has acknowledged doing this for ‘countless people.’ He is also serving on a board of a public education institution other than a law school. Both of these violate the canons of judicial conduct. We are asking Judge Caprio to resign from the board of governors.”

The Chafee campaign said that if Caprio declined to resign, it would file a complaint with the Commission on Judicial Tenure and Discipline, requesting that he be removed from his judicial post.
