Chafee Meets with Obama

Governor-elect Lincoln Chafee met with President Obama and other White House staff yesterday in Washington, DC.

This was their first meeting since Obama travelled to Rhode Island but refused to endorse Democratic gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio out of respect for Chafee, who crossed party lines in 2008 to support Obama's candidacy.

The President and staff will also meet with the other 28 newly-elected governors.

"It's a chance for Governor-elect Chafee to speak to the President and his advisors about the issues facing Rhode Island," said transition spokesman Mike Trainor told 630 WPRO, a GoLocalProv media partner.
