It doesn't pay to be the chairman of the Democratic party or a Democratic mayor of the Capital City - not when the teachers union is in play. Marcia Reback threw her weight behind progressive Democratic candidate David Segal.
The state chapter of the American Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals which claims to represent represents 10,000 workers, including roughly 7,000 public school teachers in 11 districts. According to the Union, RIFTHP believes that positive long-term economic health requires a continuing reinvestment in education, health care and other important public services and is dedicated to that mission.
