WHA Commissioner Announces Woonsocket City Council Bid

Current Woonsocket Housing Authority Commissioner, Michael N. Dubois, has announced a bid for a seat on the Woonsocket City Council for the 2024 elections.

Regarding his candidacy, Dubois said: “I am excited to announce my candidacy for City Council. The residents of Woonsocket have been through an awful lot over the last few years, and I look forward to helping to bring stability and hope to all. I am prepared to work collaboratively with the next Mayor, whomever that may be.”

 

After many years of volunteering for organizations such as The Woonsocket Rotary Club (past president), Woonsocket Rotary Foundation Board (former chairman), Stadium Theatre, and several local sports organizations, Dubois says he is ready to devote his time and energy to the city he proudly calls home.

Ellen Pinnock Announces Run for Ward 1, Newport City Council

Ellen Pinnock announced she’s running for Newport City Council in Ward 1.

“My love for Newport and its residents is part of my genetic makeup. I can’t imagine living anywhere else and I’m optimistic about this new opportunity to continue improving my community,” said Pinnock.

Ellen was born and raised in Newport and was last year’s recipient of the League of Women Voters Joan C. Arnold community service award.

Professionally, Pinnock is the Director of Community Engagement at FabNewport where she co-leads their Young Philosophers teen leadership development program. Additionally, Ellen oversees the parent engagement component of Governor Dan McKee’s ambitious Learn365RI initiative and formerly taught podcasting and storytelling at Rogers High School one day a week. She currently serves in a similar capacity as a resident consultant for Newport Health Equity Zone.

“There’s never really a dull moment but my focus has always been on equity, improving wellbeing for our students and families, and instilling a sense of togetherness.”
