Former Mayor Taveras Joins Boston Law Firm

He has joined the law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP as a litigation shareholder in the firm’s Boston office. Taveras had wins on the city's budget and securing a the Bloomberg Philanthropies' Mayors Challenge $5 million grand prize for his innovative proposal to improve the vocabularies of pre-school age children.
But, he had some major misses too. His embarrassing effort to punish a member of the city council for not voting for his budget by closing the community swimming pool blew up on him. The Davey Lopes pool controversy was an embarrassment for the City of Providence and the Mayor's administration. Ultimately, the Mayor was forced to reverse field and rehab the pool.

The court ruled against Taveras' motions.
His campaign for the Democratic nomination for Governor failed with Taveras only winning the City of Central Falls. He lost his home City of Providence in the three-way primary.
