UPDATED: Fung Announces Run for Congress

Former Republican Mayor of Cranston and two-time candidate for governor has filed with the Federal Election Commission as a candidate to run in 2022 to fill the seat being vacated by retiring Congressman Jim Langevin.
Fung now joins former State Representative Bob Lancia on the Republican side of the aisle who has formally filed.

From record-setting inflation that is robbing you of your hard-earned dollars in the grocery stores and at the gas pump, to a feeling that we are less safe at home, it's just not working for your family or mine. Instead of focusing on the problems weighing on people each night at the dinner table, DC politicians spend their time attacking one another with the same old talking points."
"We do not need more hyper-partisan politicians. We need a different type of leader in DC. We need a problem solver. We need leaders who are willing to work with people on both sides of the aisle to bring common-sense solutions to our everyday problems. I did just that in Cranston, and I can't wait to do that for you as your next Congressman," added Fung.
Democrats who have filed for the race with the FEC include Seth Magaziner, Cameron Moquin, Joy Fox, Michael Neary, Ed Pacheco, and Omar Bah.
Republicans who have voiced interest in running include State Senator Jessica de la Cruz and Representative Patricia Morgan.
Fung will be an immediate front runner on the GOP side due to his name recognition and ability to fundraise.
However, he will have to navigate a potentially difficult GOP primary.
