Governor Chafee Nominates Susa to the RI Public Transit Authority

Governor Lincoln D. Chafee announced his nomination of Mark J. Susa of Warwick for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA). Susa fills the seat vacated by Anna Liebenow.

Susa is currently CEO and lead trainer of Accessing Community Transportation, Inc. (ACT). ACT was formed with technical assistance from Rhode Island’s Office of Rehabilitation Services (ORS) and teaches people with disabilities how to use public transit independently. As an active member of our community, he has served on the RIPTA Accessible Transportation Advisory Committee, Rhode Island Developmental Disabilities Council, State of Rhode Island Transition Council, Warwick Special Education Advisory Committee and the United Cerebral Palsy of Rhode Island Board of Directors.

“Mark has many years of experience as a certified travel trainer. As a leader in the field, he will bring to RIPTA valuable insight, perspective and expertise,” Governor Chafee said. “I thank Anna Liebenow for her service to the State of Rhode Island and being a valuable member of the Transit Authority.”

Reappointments

Governor Chafee also reappointed Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian, Stephen Durkee, Margaret Holland McDuff and Maureen Martin.

Rhode Island Public Transit Authority

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority is charged with providing mass transit service to nearly all of the cities and towns within the State of Rhode Island. An eight member Board of Directors governs the Authority.
