Jones Named RI State Director for Johnson Libertarian Campaign

Former governor of New Mexico Johnson and former governor of Massachusetts William Weld were just elected by the Liberarian Party to their presidential ticket.
Jones is the at-large member of the executive committee of the Libertarian Party and a state delegate to the National Libertarian Convention. Jones ran for Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island in 2014 on the platform to eliminate the office.

The LPRI can become a state recognized party if the ticket receives at least 5% of votes.
On Sunday, the Libertarian Pary elected Johnson and Weld to the presidential ticket. According to the Libertarian Party, a recent national poll has Johnson receiving 10% of support from registered voters, drawing the most respondents from those under 35.
The party also cited another national poll showing 44% of registered voters would want a third path to run against Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
The Libertarian Party is the only third party with ballot access in 50 states.
